Hungry&Cold

I knew that thousands of people died from starvation and disease, but I had never known thousands more died from the cold. When we wake up under toasty covers, when we are dressed with heavy fleece from head to toe, and when exposure to the cold is many times limited to 15 meter walks from heated building to heated car, it's hard to literally imagine the term "freezing to death." For refugees in Kabul, Afghanistan, however, this horrific term is a part of reality. Refugees like 8-year-old Farzana fight the cold daily. Because governments rarely like admit they need help from outside and are having trouble with growing refugee conflict, thousands who are in need are being denied valuable sources of food, shelter, and clothing. When a third of the country's population (9 million) is suffering from food shortages and hundreds are "freezing to death" in refugee camps, I think it's evident there needs to be dramatic change. The question is where do we start?
